Yes, you are opening the page in the sidebar as you can see by the close X in the top right corner.

You will have to check the details of the bookmarks that behave this way and make sure to remove the tick on "Load this bookmark in the sidebar". You can see this in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) via the Details pane at the bottom right, click the More button to make this choice visible. You can also do this in the bookmarks sidebar in the Properties via the right-click context menu.

Right-click that bookmark and select Open In New Tab/Window.

A bookmark that opens in the sidebar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website. You can check the properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the sidebar (Ctrl+B; Command+B on Mac). In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Detail pane at the bottom right. Make sure "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" is not selected.

I HAVE BEEN USING "OPEN IN NEW TAB". "LOAD THIS BOOKMARK IN THE SIDEBAR" IS NOT BEING USED. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO USE ICONS FOR YAHOO, FACEBOOK, ETC. THAT I HAVE PUT ON TASK BAR (NOT SURE IF THAT IS WHAT IT IS CALLED. IT IS THE BAR AT TOP OF PAGE WITH "MOST USED" "GETTING STARTED") WHEN I TRY TO USE THE ICONS IT OPENS TO THE LEFT OF THE SCREEN AND LEAVES THE PAGE I AM ON TO THE RIGHT OF THE SCREEN. IF I USE A BOOKMARK I HAVE TO USE "OPEN IN NEW TAB" OR IT DOES THE SAME THING WHEN IT OPENS A PAGE. I AM TRYING TO EXPLAIN IT AS SIMPLY AS I CAN BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW WHAT MOST STUFF IS CALLED.

That is the Bookmarks Toolbar that stores bookmarks that are located in the Bookmarks Toolbar folder.

Are you sure that some bookmarks aren't opened in the sidebar.

To check that then you can open the bookmarks in the sidebar via the Ctrl+B keyboard shortcut.
