I deleted disconnected from synch, deleted duplicate folders, reconnected, and it put all my duplicates back. What?

Title says it. I'm getting duplicates of folders in bookmarks (top level, sub folders, sub sub folders, up to 10 duplicates now). I turned off synch, deleted all duplicates (took a few hours), then re-logged in and it synched and PUT ALL MY DUPLICATES BACK AGAIN.

I found one answer to one guy in the support site, but I don't understand all he did in the registry, etc etc.

Why can't it just work? Why can't I find a solution in their data base, others must have this problem too.

Anyway, anybody know how to solve this?

Thanks very much.

Jim

After fixing all those duplicate bookmark folders, did you reset your Sync Password before re-connecting to Sync?

Resetting the Sync Password will clear your data on the Sync server, which has the corrupt / duplicate data. If just re-connect to Sync (without wiping the old data), Sync will just "synchronize" that corrupt data all over again.

Also, I advise you to run Place Maintenance before manually deleting all the duplicates the next. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/

If you have a "mobile" device (Firefox for Android or Firefox for iOS) connected to that Sync account - that may have been what started the "duplicates" corruption in the beginning.
