Hi there, it seems I'm suffering from the same problems as others in several countries. I have also not been able to access my gmx.com account via Thunderbird for about a week now. I live in Belgium and use a Proton VPN, in case this is relevant. I can't find how to delete cookies in history, nor any other potential solutions to the problem. hello, i cannot seem to find a solution online, hopefully someone can help.

i often receive emails with images attached, and most of the time people don't resize their images. you can imagine over time this all adds up in the email storage folder total size.

i dont always need to keep a 6mb image version, it can be reduced after i am done.

i would like a method to resize the received emails image attachment, to at least still have a smaller copy for refence, but not end up with a huge thunderbird email account profile (in the email received not externally saved)

preferably a one click solution, or even a routine i can run on the file system, etc. or some way to edit the received email and its attachment in program.

I have been using Thunderbird for a fairly long time and have several email accounts in it. Today, I noticed that one of my accounts seems to be filtering the messages for one type of message. When I login to the email account directly, I see all of the messages. I don't have any filters set - none of the filter buttons are on, there is no filter in the filter text box and there are no filters in Tools->Message Filters.

ThB & cPanel filters (a) don't catch all SPAM and (b) send legitimate mail to the Junk folder. Together, the 2 problems cause a large amount of work. Because of (b), I must regularly go through the Junk folder. Because of (a), the Junk folder contains a huge number of messages. (a) Messages from serial spammers trying to spoof Costco, Marriott, AAA, Blue Cross, etc. that I have flagged as SPAM dozens of times IN ALL THEIR VARIATIONS, still appear both in the Junk folder and in the Inbox (including messages with the red SPAM marker turned on, which to remove from the Inbox I must first click to mark them as non-S{AM, then click again to mark them as SPAM). (b) Messages from senders who have sent hundreds of messages before that have gotten through and who are in my contacts list regularly and in significant numbers end up in the Junk folder. I tried to set up filters in Spam Assassin. They made no difference. I tried to set up e-mail filters in cPanel, which entirely removed messages before they even reached ThB. These were quite effective, but although I created them very carefully using regex to capture every variation of COSTCO spelled with Os and 9s, etc., they also ended up removing legitimate messages (and none of my senders mentions AAA or BlueCross in their messages). I really have no clue how to proceed. None of the advice that AI or ISP support provided helped. Thank you for taking the time.

Thunderbird causes my machine to 'hang' from time to time, often for up to a second and usually a number of times in quick succession on each ocasion. Sometimes this happens frequently - say every 5 or 10 minutes - sometimes only after an hour or more since the past occurrance. My machine hangs completely - nothing will work, mouse, keyboard, sound, other apps etc. If I happen to be typing (into any app - including Thunderbird - when this happens, input ceases, the cursor freezes and - if the problem persists for a second or two, Windows reports "[app] is not responding" I cannot be certain, but I believe the problem occurs whilst messages are being retrieved.

This is a very serious problem as it means that I can never leave TB running as the problems it causes are not acceptable. This means I cannot deal with incoming messages without periodically re-starting TB - which is an utter PIA.

I am running Win 11 Professional on a 2-year old machine with 64 Gb of memory. I have run TB in Troubleshoot mode, I have confirmed that the problem occurs regardless or whatever other apps are running (or none) and I have proven conclusively that no other app causes any kind of similar problem.

Looking forward yto hearing if others have had the same issue and what can be done about it.

I just installed thunderbird for the first time and i really liked it but there is a problem some of my emails particularly from from Fiverr don't show Fiverr logo at the top within the email maybe that logo has linked wrapped in it on which i can click and it take me directly to my fiverr profile. These are official emails from fiverr. What i have tried: I tried every possible solution that i can get on internet. Show Remote content turning on and off, Turing Simplified view on and off. Turning of the Proxy from auto detect and Turning the DNS off. Fiddling around view settings. Changing settings in Configuration like mailnews.message_display.disable_remote_image, browser.opaqueResponseBlocking.javascriptValidator, browser.opaqueResponseBlocking, etc. But it didn't load the logo image and keep showing broken image place holder. This is also the case with my bank mail, my bank email sometime have an image with warning about OTPs not just text it also don't load. I also tried disabling the spam protection and i only use minimize to tray extension which i disabled to check if image loads or not ans tried to run it in Troubleshoot mode but no luck. I will really appreciate If anyone could help me and fixed the issue . :)

I can't seem to get Thunderbird on Linux Mint to work. Everything font related is a mess. I don't know what default Thunderbird uses when it doesn't know a font but the setting is unreadable. I've messed with a ton of font settings but nothing seems to change anything. Note if I copy the garbage and paste it into a notepad, it is totally readable but there appears to be no way to change this default in Thunderbird. Please help.

Before I recently (& reluctantly) upgraded to TB 140.8.1esr, I used to be able to paste the following in the Error Console to get a URI for an email message (or template) that I wanted to access from my calendaring app (EccoPro -- yeah, I know, one of those "from my dying hands" things, but it has never been equaled much less surpassed, just choked in the cradle by MS Office).

var hdr = gFolderDisplay.selectedMessage; alert(hdr.folder.getUriForMsg(hdr));

I would highlight the message I wanted to use, hit Shft-Ctrl -J, and paste that in the console.

I would get a notice with something like this which I could copy

"mailbox-message://nobody@Local%20Folders/Templates#10"

I could then put a clickable link in my calendaring app to run

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -mail "mailbox-message://nobody@Local%20Folders/Templates#10"

That message would open. Then I could hit Ctrl-E to edit it, paste as needed, and send .

This worked very well. I did not come up with it. I struck gold with Google and just copied it. With something similar to AutoHotKey I was able to automate it.

Now those URI codes no longer launch at all, and I cannot get new ones because when I paste

into Error Console I get

If I had known what I was doing in the first place, I might be able to adapt to this version of Thunderbird. Something obviously changed in how the Error Console operates or something.

Does anyone know anything about what command could generate a message URI so I could open it from another app using the command line?

Good morning . . . I have recently switched from an old Windows 10 machine to a new macmini, and have switched my Office 365 account over to it. Simply stated, Outlook is not working, and I have no desire to continue with it. Will Thunderbird suit my needs? Will it allow me to import my old contacts and emails, both from my Windows machine and the new MacOutlook?

I own two computers running MacOS 10.15.7 Catalina and have Thunderbird installed on both. Until rather recently, the Thunderbird version was 140.8.1. Then I noted that it was impossible to send e-mails, and soon discovered that the cause was outdated server settings. They could not handle office365, so I installed Thunderbird 148.01 and changed to settings that should be able to do so. This worked very well on one of the computers, the one which has a fast (SSD) hard drive, but not on the other that has a slow (non-SSD) drive. The error message that I get with the slow computer is, surprisingly, the same as I got with the older Thunderbird. But I suspect that the real cause is some kind of timed-out process.

If any of you could explain what happens and tell me what to do, I would be very happy. Maybe I should choose a Thunderbird version somehere between 140 and 148?

Thunderbird does not recognize my CenturyLink login password. This started yesterday. I can access my CenturyLink web mail. Have deleted my TB account and set up a new TB account without success. Have confirmed the account settings, etc. Assistance would be appreciated.

Hi, Address Book Search doesn't show any results for example Phone Numbers or Addresses.

Search for Phone Number 030 shows: No contacts found - which is not true! Search for Address City Berlin shows: No contacts found - which is not true!

Please improve the search, so that it considers any contact detail.

I'm long time user of Thunderbird Calendar. For most of the events in calendar I have reminders that should pop up for example 7 days before the event. This was working correctly.

About half year ago. The reminders stopped working. I don't get the reminder 7 days before, but they pop up on the day of the event. This is quite unpleasant. For example If I have my car technical check deadline and I get the reminder on the deadline, not 7 days ahead.

I have not changed any settings around the time it started happening.

So far I have checked: -Individual event reminder settings : yes they still got the reminder set up to pop up some days before the event -Settings / Calendar / Reminders / Show the reminder dialog - checked -Settings / Calendar / Notification / Show notifications for upcoming events - I added here "1 day before event starts" notification, but that also doesn't work. -Tried Googling the issue. Found some threads about reminders not popping at all. Not the case here. I don't get notifications before the event, but they pop up at the time of the event. No luck here.

Since about half a year has passed since this started, I guess it's not a bug that happens to everyone.

I accidently unsubscribed my current calendar. It does not list anymore, I do not know how to list unsubscribed calendars. How to re-subscribe it? (Window 11 w/latest Thunderbird). thanks very much.

One of the more aggravating aspects of Thunderbird's calendar is when an event alerts me that event grabs focus from whatever I am doing at the moment. I have no interest in having Thunderbird yell at me to stop what I'm doing and pay attention to the alert like a 5 year old. I am often deeply involved in other work and never appreciate Thunderbird's calendar interrupting me.

Is there somewhere in Thunderbird where I can tell Thunderbird that the calendar can pop open and make a sound but under no circumstances is it to take focus from where it is at the moment?
