Moved my thunderbird account to my new lap top using %appdata% . All has transferred but it is not letting me put in the passwords for imap and smtp. I checked on the old laptop, and I do have them correct. Any help would be lovely. I can access my gmail account online if I have to.

What does " not accepting passwords " mean to you?

I think you copied your profile data so that would have included passwords. But almost all new hardware these days comes with junk like trials of antivirus programs that you did not use before or is not set the same as your old one. This can prevent things like Thunderbird working correctly. Did you get the generic McAfee or the like installed? Try just removing it.
