How to export/import address books?

I just had to reinstall Thunderbird on my computer. Somehow after being away for a year and firing up my computer Thunderbird advised best to reinstall. I was able to get some of my contacts but not all. Thought it would be simple to just export my Thunderbird address files from my Windows laptop and import it to my Thunderbird app on my windows computer. Seems obvious and simple but not so for me. The suggested solutions do not work. Am I missing something?

The two files are abook.sqlite and history.sqlite. Just copy from one PC and paste into the profile of the other PC. OR, after copying from first PC, use the import option on the addressbook pane.

Thank you David for your rapid response. I'll copy over the existing files. I might run the risk of duplicate contacts if I import.

You are most welcome. :)
