Thunderbird 151 message list in table view now has awful pitch black background (bug2041889)

Hi,

I've just updated my Thunderbird for Windows to 151 and I got this nasty surprise (this is why I hate updates these days).

The message list in dark mode, in a table view, now has this awful pitch black background instead of the normal dark brown as it used to have. It looks OK in cards mode, but I don't like cards mode.

I certainly hope this is a bug and not by design. Can this be fixed, please? It looks terrible, it's hard to look at, like old Windows 10 dark mode or some high contrast accessibility mode.

Thank you!

IIRC there is/was a bug.

What theme is enabled in Tools > Addons > themes?

It's the default Mozilla dark theme, I haven't modified that setting. But yes, I submitted a bug report and one of the devs confirmed it was supposed to be simply darker grey, like in the cards mode, not pure black. So I guess that's a bug.

There was another bug report but someone closed it as "intentional change" but they clearly didn't understand what happened ("darker grey" and "black" aren't the same things) and closed it as "won't fix" without verifying what actually happened. Hopefully this new report will gain some traction. A developer actually verified this was happening.

But there were no updates on the report since. I guess it takes some time.

There is another thread on this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1582713

Thank you!

If you are referring to Anje, they are not a developer.
