Hi,

Last year I added a gmail account to my existing Thunderbird and until last week it has been working flawlessly. However all of a sudden Thunderbird could no longer log on to that google account, i.e. not only gmail but also the (google-)calendar that I've connected - that as well worked perfectly nice until last week. On my mobile I'm using a different mail app and there I was also forced to provide my credentials again, but have access to my mails on that gmail account. For the calendar on my mobile no changes were required. This lenghty introduction is serve to let you know that it is not the password that I changed ;-)

The error message returned by google is: "The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That’s all we know." And I also attached a screenshot.

The version of my Thunderbird is: 128.12.0esr (64-bit) [running on Ubuntu 20.?.?]

Of course I can only speculate, but either the "shape" of the request has changed or google became picky of what they accept...

Do you have any idea what I can do? Thanks in advance and kind regards, Tommy

For the OAuth authentication to succeed make sure cookies are allowed in Thunderbird, and no other application on your computer blocks TCP port 80, e.g. like a local web server. Also make sure no VPN is active at the time of the authentication attempt.
