How Can I Stop Downloads to Duplicate Accounts?
I have an old Pop account for each email account.
I later created an Imap account for each email account.
I've set Thunderbird so that it does *not* automatically download each time it starts, and so that the Pop accounts do not automatically remove the originals from the servers.
But I often end up downloading to the old accounts, which makes for a mess of dulicate emails, or irrelevant emails where I've deleted from one account but still need to sort through the other.
What's the safest way to stop downloads to the old Pop accounts, while keeping all relevant info?

Go to TB menu > Account Settings > Account > Server Settings and disable these options:
- Check for new messages at startup
- Check for new messages every X minutes
- Allow immediate server notification when new messages arrive
- under Junk Settings, uncheck 'Enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account'
Note that accessing any folder in the disabled account will cause a connection and message fetch from the server.
If it fails to deactivate:
- check to see if your address book and/or calendar are trying to make connections
- Check for new messages at startup
Already unchecked.
- Check for new messages every X minutes
Already unchecked.

Where do you have that setting?
- under Junk Settings, uncheck 'Enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account'
I'm not sure how it's relevant, but, sure, I'll uncheck it.

Right under Check for new messages every X minutes. Maybe it's not an option for POP?
Yeah, that's only for Imap.
Anyway, I would like if I could either 1. exclude these accounts when I accidentally "Get new messages for all accounts," and get an extra confirmation step when getting them for the specific account, or 2. disable download for the time being.
Best I can think is to screw up some of the server settings, but I'll get a lot of error pop-ups.
If you no longer plan to use the POP account, I suggest copying the POP folders to Local Folders and then deleting the POP account,
