Strange code dominating incoming emails (bitdefender)
Just starting today 8/11/2025 I get hundreds of lines of this kind of code instead of emails that I have been getting normally. I use Thunderbird 140.1.1esr. I have Headings set to Normal. What can I do?

It's a problem with ever more victims. Do you, by any chance, rely on Bell or Sympatico.ca for your emails?
I got 7 more emails like this today! I use earthlink for my emails. They are charging $9 per month now. After 20 years I don't want to change my address.
Bitdefender is the problem. Check other threads.
To everyone, I have confirmation that the Bitdefender develpment teams are actively looking into this.

bruce,
You are using bitdefender? If so, In Bitdefender -> Protection -> Online Threat Prevention -> toggle off the setting Encrypted web scan. Restart computer and Thunderbird.
Are new messages better?
If not, then Help > Troubleshoot Mode better?
Solution update posted at 8:48 Eastern time (12:48 UTC) Thursday by Alexlandru_BD, an admin at bitdefender, "The developers reverted the changes made in the last signature update and this should do the trick until a permanent fix is deployed. Just click on update in systray and reboot once completed. But keep in mind this change is being rolled out gradually, so it may not reach everyone at the same time.."
