Followed the instructions and all seemed well. Brought my data over and sent messages. Tried to receive messages, Win 10 crashed with this error message: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Tried multiple reinstalls all with the same result.

And here is the end of the story. I tried other email clients, the one that worked best was a very buggy version of Eudora which i finally threw up my hands about. That one did receive and send and brought in all my data and contacts. But it finally got to be too much.

So in desperation I tried one more install of Thunderbird, this time without importing my data, and lo and behold it has worked flawlessly. I kept the Eudora installation so I have my old emails and addresses if I need them.
