Why is there (now?) a useless tab with the current folder name sandwiched between the menu bar and the mail toolbar?
I recently updated Thunderbird to 60.3.1 and noticed there seems to be a new line added to the top of the Thunderbird window. It's a tab with the name of the current folder, sandwiched between the Menu Bar and the Mail Toolbar. I already know what mail folder I'm currently viewing, and adding a tab, with only that info on it, would seem to be redundant and useless. Is there some other reason for it to be there, does it have some as yet undiscovered usefulness? If not, my laptop is vertically challenged, and if I could get that one line of space back, it would let me see more folders and other useful information, and increase my productivity, as a result. Windows 10 Home, fully up to date.

You can open Tools/Options/Advanced/General/Config. editor and double-click the preference mail.tabs.autoHide to false, which will hide the tab in question as long as no other tabs are open.
Thanks for that. It was already set to "false", but when toggled to "true", seems to have produced the desired result. No more unsightly tab. :)

Case closed. Thanks to sfhowes for that work around using the config editor. Didn't know there was a way to toggle the tab function on/off, and I learned something today.

No problem. Most of that config stuff is either boolean or numeric counters. I managed to figure it out. :) Thanks again.
When you set the tab to be hidden you can't view as much of any theme you have at the top of the screen. How can I view even more of the theme?
