cannot play videos from facebook timeline on firefox 31
At some point over the last few days I have lost the ability to play videos on facebook. I can play them on chrome still. Not IE (it prompted me to install a different Flash, which I did. Now I dont get the prompt, but they still don't play.)
I have tried reinstalling firefox, turned off norton internet security, reset firefox... installed real player (only because it's a suggested fix). Despite adding some other flash via IE, adobe still says I have 14.0.0.145 installed.
It doesnt appear to be caused by a plug in (I only have Too Many Tabs, Save My Tabs, Download Status Bar).
I see the video on facebook ok, but when I click on one, i just get black where the vid should appear.
Running Windows 7 Professional, all updated.. Java updated (but only today), so it's not that.
Any other ideas? Candy Crush won't load either on firefox, but hasn't for months. I think that is a problem their end, it seems very common. But I can load it on Chrome, or on Android phone.. So again, very frustrating.
Ideas welcome!!!!!!

HI lynandlloyd, I have suggested to re-install flash before when the black screen appears when clicking play. However there is also a cache that Flash stores and permissions managed by the plugin. If you right click on the video and click
Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See this article for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
- Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
- Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
- Click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
- Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel.
The image "fpSettings1.PNG" does not exist.
- Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.
- Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
- Restart Firefox.
This Flash Player Help - Display Settings page has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.
Does this solve the problem? Let us know.
No, that doesnt work. Sorry, I had tried it before I posted, but omitted to mention.

I had the same problem on Windows 7 with Firefox 32 and could fix it by deleting the folders
%AppData%\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player %AppData%\Local\Macromedia\Flash Player
Explanation: I realized that it had to do with my user configuration files by verifying with the Windows guest account that Firefox can play the video fine. Since also resetting my Firefox account didn't help, I suspected the Flash config to cause a problem.
