Since there is no error screenshot for others to verify what your seeing they won't know. Also what links for Amazon are you using? And advice it's best to use for eBay/Amazon Chrome or Edge as there seems to be programming difference that Firefox for some reason has issue with eBay/Amazon.

If I use any other browser, I never get a code request, and it always presents the Amazon home page.

This more annoying than urgent since I have a working solution - enter the full url.

Does it still happen in a new profile? An easy way to test a new profile is to install Developer Edition and see if it happens there or refresh your existing profile.
