My recurring appointments have disappeared.

I have used Sunbird for years. All of my recurring appointments have disappeared and I can't add new recurring appointment. I tried to download Lightning and it uses Thunderbird. I get an e-mail with a Lightning attachment but it won't open.

Lightning is now part of Thunderbird and included in it.

Perhaps it's not enabled? Do you see other events in your calendar? What is your calendar provider (cloud/Gmail/other? Local calendar?)?

How do you turn the "Lightning" calendar on in Thunderbird? I go to options and I see Calendar but nothing happens when I choose my options or maybe I just don't know how to get to it.
