Microphone ZTE Open is weak. Why?

I recently purchased this phone through the UK Ebay store of ZTE. I already upgraded my phone the most recent 1.0 firmware. But the biggest problem is that none of the people I call are able to hear me clearly. Unless I scream very loud they barely hear me. I can overcome sluggishness, usual crashes here and there. It will be fixed in the future updates. But a weak microphone cant be fixed by that. I live in the Netherlands so I cant send this to ZTE by Royal mail. What is the best thing to do?
