I am unable to install version 4, after "update" has wiped out vs. 3.6

I am working on a Mac running OS 10.4.11. I was fat and happy running FF 3.6, but received a notification advising that an update was available. I dutifully clicked on the link, and downloaded vs. 4.0. It wiped out what I previous had as it began to update, but the app icon had the circle with diagonal bar across, and cannot be installed. I have tried to install from scratch over and over, but same result. I'm hosed, and thus, extremely ticked since it appears I have lost all my history and bookmarks.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

When you install either of the above, it should pick up your existing bookmarks, history and other user data.

I have the same issue - still running 10.4 on my non-intel Mac. When I checked "all-older.html" last night 3.6 wasn't in the list. They must have updated it since I last checked.

I am * beyond belief - because before I downloaded and attempted to install, I VERIFIED that Mozilla said it would be compatible with OS 10.4, running on my Power PC E-mac G3!!!

Adios, Firefox - you idiots have wasted hours of my time!!!

I had the same experience with Mac OS 10.6.4 (Snow Leopard). So this is not a 10.4 only problem. I am strongly considering switching to Chrome after this debacle. Fix this soon Mozilla or you will be losing a lot of Mac users.
