My Firefox built in VPN is on, but it's not using any data...like it's not running...but shows its on! What's going on?

The Firefox VPN is installed and on...it had been working great...but now, it's on, but not using any data...the data status bar stays at 50%....like it's not running...what's going on with it? Thanks!

On top of the https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/built-in-vpn KB article there is a banner.

Now through August 31, get unlimited bandwidth with more locations in built-in VPN. Head to Connect for more details.

Btw Mozilla refers to it as built-in VPN as "Firefox VPN" implies it is a standalone app like the standalone subscription based Mozilla VPN app.
