I was receiving Directv content on Mozilla Firefox for months without issue. Suddenly it stopped completely and left a message "We couldn't play this content at this time". I don't understand why this happened or how to fix it. I want to do all my browsing with Mozilla Firefox so I need help. It would be truly excellent if I could speak to a human about this issue. Please.

Hi there! I am a fellow Firefox user and human volunteer, and I’m here to help you get DirecTV working again. When a streaming service suddenly stops working overnight like this, it is usually caused by a recent update to the browser's Digital Rights Management (DRM) components, corrupted site data, or an overprotective extension. Here are the quick steps to fix this so you can keep using Firefox: 1. Toggle DRM Settings (Most Common Fix) DirecTV requires a component called Widevine DRM to play protected videos. Sometimes it gets stuck after an update. Click the menu button (three horizontal lines) and select Settings. In the General panel, scroll down to the Digital Rights Management (DRM) Content section. Uncheck the box next to Play DRM-controlled content. Wait about 10 seconds, then re-check the box. This forces Firefox to download a fresh copy of the video component. 2. Clear Cookies and Cache for DirecTV Corrupted temporary files can cause playback errors. Visit the DirecTV website. Click the padlock icon 🔒 to the left of the website address in the URL bar. Click Clear cookies and site data... and confirm by clicking Remove. Restart Firefox and try logging in again. 3. Check "Enhanced Tracking Protection" Firefox's built-in privacy features can sometimes block the hidden scripts DirecTV uses to verify your subscription. While on the DirecTV site, click the shield icon 🛡 to the left of the address bar. Toggle the switch to Turn off protection for this site. The page will reload automatically. Give these a try and let us know if your stream comes back!

For some reason DirecTV does intentionally try to actively block Firefox users. There's a fresh wave of reports that users' logins are being rejected, not sure if they do that deliberately or are just mishandling some security insights, but apparently they do not care about their user base:(

Would you be willing to test an alternative setting, to see any (positive/negative) impact?

If you enter about:compat in your address bar and press enter, it will open a list of interventions. Look for the directv.com entry, you can disable it from there on that line — every intervention has a "Disable" button next to it. Next time you open DirecTV, ideally in a Private Window to appear with clean slate for them, do you see any change?

(Worst case? They might show you a big bold message that Firefox is not supported or something along the lines. But still worth trying. You can always enable the intervention back the same way as above.)
