Is it no longer possible to deactivate the picture-in-picture (pip) video control in Firefox 124.0.2 (64-bit)? The picture-in-picture thing annoys me when surfing and on YouTube on my PC.

You can right-click on the PiP toggle button in videos and choose "Hide Picture-in-Picture Toggle".
