Cannot access about:config as of 2022-Oct-25
About:config simply shows me a blank screen.
I need to customize a few settings and I presently cannot. This question marks this as answered but the answer is talking about a solution to the specific reason they were trying to access about:config, not why they cannot access it. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1373286
Others say to use the nightly build, which I don't want. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1302626
What's the deal? I've spent an hour or so now looking this up and haven't found anything.
Chosen solution
Hi
About:config has only been available in the Beta and Nightly versions of Firefox for Android for a couple of years now. It is not as much use as many preferences are baked into the GeckoView engine when the app is built, others reset when you exit Firefox for Android and others can completely break the app with a loss of data.

What is the GeckoView engine and can I use that like about:config?
Modified
GeckoView is the code in Firefox for Android that makes it work - it is not user configurable.
Thanks for taking the time to clear that up. Hopefully this is functional soon. I have been sticking with Firefox this whole time, even while Alphabet and Google try to squash Firefox from existence. We need choice!
"chosen solution"? is "About:config has only been available in the Beta and Nightly versions". False. Ive downloaded nightly and beta version apps on Android and none of them work when typing about.config in search, not even in stock default or when tapping on Firefox in about under settings. Does anyone have a answer why about.config doesn't work in beta or nightly? Its DOES NOT WORK.

It is about:config with a colon : and not a period as you are typing.
Does this mean that there is no intention to fix lack of configurability in Firefox for Android? To put it another way, does this mean that if the default configuration does not work for you, you should use a different browser?
I would prefer to not use Chrome, but if there is no other choice, ...
