Immediately after upgrading to Thunderbird 102.0 several of my new and existing emails began showing code in the email body (and the usual button controls are missing - Reply, Forward, Archive, etc). On one email this morning the body of the email has a few lines of code followed by the body/text from an email several months ago Running Windows 10 on a desktop PC. Also run Malwarebytes PrivacyVPN and AVG. I searched web and saw how you can "repair" a folder/email. However, when I selected/clicked on Repair it appears nothing initiated. I also saw a post to rebuild the folder by deleting the .msf files - but I could only find for send or draft and only for a couple of my (15) emails. Meanwhile on my SurfacePro 7 running Win11 and Thunderbird 91.10 emails appear correctly (that are corrupted on my desktop; including this morning's email that showed the body of another/previous email - displayed correctly on my SP7) I would appreciate any help/direction you can provide. Thank you, Mike

Are you using the quarantine option in Thunderbird settings?

more options

Thank you Wayne for your quick reply. I am not sure. Under Settings | Privacy & Security | Antivirus I have checked the box to "Allow antivirus clients to quarantine individual incoming messages" So, I believe my answer to your question is yes.

Yes, that is currently causing a problem. The developer just indicated today that the cause has been found - so hopefully a fix soon.

If you uncheck it the problem should stop propogating. On the other hand, it does risk exposing entire folders to being quarantined by AV.

Does 102.0.3 resolve your problem?

more options

I do not know. I have left the Antivirus option off. So, I will turn back on "Allow antivirus clients to quarantine individual incoming messages". Thank you for the follow-up.

After turning on the "Allow antivirus clients..." the original problem again appeared on several emails. Similar to before only on some emails, not all (perhaps on 25%-50%). So I have once again turned off this option.

Hmm, this is defintely with 102.0.3 ?

Sorry about that. I was 102.0.2. Just now did a restart/update, verified I am running 102.0.3. So, can I take from your notes/inquiry that this issue was addressed in 102.0.3? Safe for me to turn on the option again?

102.0.3 does have fixes in this specific area, and so far the results reported by users have been very positive.

OK, thank you. I just turned the antivirus option on again, under 120.0.3 and will assume all is good. If not, I will post. Thanks again for your help and follow-ups.
