all of my folders where I saved my emails are now empty. I still have folders just emails saved in them are gone.

Opened up a folder where I had emails saved, and folder was empty. I checked all of my other folders and they were completely empty also. Everything was there the day before. I had years of saved receipts and other important documents saved. Now, all are gone. How can I retrieve them?
