Since the latest update, the uploading of new emails from the server can take minutes to hours. I know the emails are on the server, because I can see them by logging onto my email client on my iPad. Why has Thunderbird suddenly become very frustrating to use? An example which just happened - I was required to enter a 6 digit code to be able to confirm my account before I could submit this question. I waited, and waited and waited to see this code in my Inbox. Finally I went to my iPad to get the code, so I could submit this question. It was there as I expected, but not in my Thunderbird Inbox for another 10 minutes. This is happening far too often, so I am contemplating finding another email program which is not so frustrating.

I installed Thunderbird on a new computer running Windows 11. I use Thunderbird for 14 email accounts. I have set the folder view to "Unified Folders." In the Inbox, emails from different accounts appear twice—sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. These emails are not duplicates; in the folders for each individual account, the emails are all displayed only once. I don't have this problem on my old computer—same Windows, same Thunderbird, looks exactly the same. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Thunderbird somehow only syncs some events on some weekdays from one of my calendars. One event of two on tuesdays shows up, all events on mondays don't show up. These are similar events each week. It seems to be syncing all events from a different calendar on the same account from the same server.

Hi, The goal is download attachments from a RSS feed. I set a specific folder so i don't have to select path for every single file. Then clicking on the file link and it should start to download but it is very unreliable especially when used on many files in sequence it silently fails. Related big problem is absence on any useful file transfer indicator like Firefox has. There is a "download manager" tab but it is completely useless. It does not show any progress and the view has no scroll bar so nothing useful can actually be seen there. Downloading using "save as" button works. So you should either fix the direct link download or disable the feature completely until it does work, to avid missing files, because that is the worst outcome.

hi all. if i create a new blank Task it automatically pre-selects today's date as the start date, and if i create a Task from an email it sets the date the email was received as the start date. i know can filter tasks lists, and hide columns, but the real issue is how it looks on the calendar; with the fixed start date, setting a due date in a month's time results in a fixed, ongoing task for a month. is there any plugin or setting that will just stop TB setting a start date that i can't change, or letting me explicitly set it myself?

thunderbird is not sending or receiving email to a particular legitimate email address; never had this problem in the past--it's just one particular email--please stop blocking it; @inreach. garmin.com

Unfortunately, for some time now, the "Recent Destinations" list remains very small and most folders, regardless of how recently I moved messages to them, do not show up on the list.

I have tried quitting TB, deleting folderCache.json, but that makes no difference. The list stays the same, and it does not get updated for most folders.

Maybe that approach is no longer a panacea :-) and there is some other way to fix this?

When checking for new email a pop asking for the username and password of the for the email server. Also when a separate email client is downloaded. This only happens when. using a mac book pro. No problem when. using Ubuntu.

Hi. Since the Thunderbird update in March/2026, my Bell sympatico.ca email is no longer able to send emails out through Thunderbird. No error messages but emails never get to destination (I tried sending to myself on both gmail and sympatico accounts). I receive emails without issue. I tested the sympatico from the web or my iPhone and it works. Seems something changed in T-bird back in March?

I validated the Outgoing SMTP server settings and all seems OK (See attached file for screenshot of settings). Any idea why and what changed to cause this?

I've been trying to connect for over an hour and I always get the answer; " Connection to the server impossible. The configuration, username or password are probably incorrect. My access provider is “Orange” and I made the mistake of accepting “Unlimited Emails”, I have 650,000… I work on a MacBook Pro Apple M1 Pro 26.3.1 (a) and the Mail app is very saturated and Tchat Gpt advised me to use your “Thunderbird” app I changed my Orange access password about 4 hours ago. Please guide me towards making your application work properly.

When I try to install my account Office 365 for my association's account (XXXX@patapon95.fr) it doesn't word with Thunderbird (I can connect on Outlook on the same account). I can also connect with my personnal acount on xxxx@outlook.fr on Thunderbird.

Changed p/w as solution no help Today for some reason Thunderbird won`t download from xfinity. Worked well yesterday,been on phone with xfinity about 1 hr. or so. restart pc no help

In my Thunderbird Profiles folder, I can drill down to ImapMail. I see multiple subfolders prefixed with my imap server name. eg:

- imap.server-5.com 10.85GB - imap.server-3.com 8.83 GB

and so on. The datestamp on each is different.

Within the two examples above is a large Inbox folder taking up ~8.8GB.

The size doesn't concern me as much as the fact of having two of these. I'd like to understand what Thunderbird is doing under the hood here. Does it create new imap.server-#.com folders periodically as backup/recovery folders?

I'd like to recover space where possible but if these are protective measures, I could live with that. However, if it creates future folders and replicates 8+GB of data multiple times, I'd like to know what steps I can take to free up disk space.

I can setup the Calendar event, save it and see it in my Home Calendar along with the little bell icon in the top right hand corner which tells me the Calendar is aware of the notification request. I generally add a reminder for the Calendar event but just noticed that no actual reminders are being generated.
