I clicked on Run Filters on Folder while in my Inbox and they ALL disappeared. After some time, I discovered that they went into the Trash bin. The inbox has all but quit receiving emails since June 23rd and it appears that they are automatically going into Trash. Now...I made the awful mistake while in Trash to click on Run Filters on Folders to see if I had accidentally diverted my inbox into the trash and to my utter disappointment they too vanished. Any help will be greatly appreciated, I have some older emails that are very important and would like very much to retrieve them all. Thank you very much!

Many of my mailboxes on the IMAP server just emptied. They were still there in my Ubuntu '.thunderbird' ImapMail directory. I have created some replacement mailboxes in 'Local Folders' and copied mbox files from the ImapMail area to the Local Folder area, removing the .msf files just created by Thunderbird. I then used the Properties->Repair Folder on each of the the new Local and filled-in-the-background mailboxes. Many worked fine and I was able to repopulate the IMAP server mailboxes using drag in Thunderbird. Some, however, were mis-parsed, producing 'From-less' and Subject-less messages containing part messages. Thunderbird seems unable to reliably parse mbox files created by itself. I note that they are not strict mbox format, having a '-' instead of an envelope address on the delimiting '^From ' line. (I am a retired Unix SysAdmin, so used to the command line)

I have a rule that moves email messages from backups to a 'Backup' folder. I also have another rule that moves emails address to myself to 'My Mail'.

When I start TB 128.11.1esr in the morning my 'Backup' and 'My Mail' folders show new email counts. When I click on 'My Mail' the number on it decreases and 'Backup' increases. This happens with other rules on other folders.

So, my question is this behavior caused my 'Message Filters' being triggered when I click a folder or potentially a latent refresh of the folders new email counts.

Thanks

I am using Thunderbird ESR 115.18.0 (64 bit) Supernova? on Windows 7 Pro. Just recently one of my email addresses doesn't work. When I start TB all the email servers used to be checked automatically and display new messages in the correct individual inboxes. Now two of them don't work. A box comes up saying something has failed and I am asked to enter a new password or Retry. Nothing works. I have no idea what password it is referring to. I have tried passwords related to the router supplied by my ISP and any correspondence about my account with them. After reading dozens of FAQs and posts in the communitiy I am more confused than ever. Why should it suddenly forget a critical password? Nothing has changed apart from maybe a TB update. Thankfully the mail addresses affected are not ones I use often, but they are the ones assigned by my ISP and are used for voicemail alerts, etc. I have considered reinstalling Thunderbird but don't know how to do it without putting my two most important addresses at risk, and with no guaratee it would solve the missing password problem anyway. Can you shed any light?

I cannot "dismiss" calendar events from Google Calendars where the event was auto-added based on data from contacts in Google Contacts. The events all show an "Organizer" of "unknownorganizer@calendar.google.com". I don't want to "work around" this by disabling reminders, as this defeats a LOT of the purpose of having the calendar in the first place, for me at least. I did find that I can delete the calendar entry if I access it via the a Web browser, so it's not like I don't have "write rights" to it. It's a mystery to me as to why it can't be otherwise updated. I also noted that these events have very bizarre "reminder" settings. They have a reminder set for 159 hours before the event starts, as well as the even more bizarre 9 hours after the event. There doesn't appear to be any related settings in Google Calendar on the Web that would have caused these wacky reminder configurations.

FYI - I'm not using any calendar extensions in Thunderbird.

I sent this earlier, but maybe this will be clearer:

I have not been receiving emails from Earthlink using Thunderbird since 6/26. I have two laptops, both running Win 10. One (A) receives Earthlink emails, the other (B) does not. The last email I received on (B) was on 6/26 at 7:05 am CST. I use Thunderbird on (B) and Windows Mail on (A). A is not configured for either MSN or Gmail. Only Earthlink. B uses all three.

I have two Android phones, and both are receiving Earthlink, MSN and Gmail emails.

I can go to Earthlink webmail using B (or A) and emails are there, and are accessible. (I am configured POP) As with the MSN account I log on to Gmail webmail, and everything is there.

I’m currently only receiving emails on Laptop B from my MSN (dot com) (Hotmail) account I also have a Gmail account, but get no emails from Gmail either. The last Gmail email that I received on Thunderbird was also on 6/26.

I have not made any recent changes to settings. There seems to be a common denominator in this somewhere, but I can’t find it. Can you help me sort this out? Thanks, Ted

B 139.0.2 on Win10 and TB on Android 11.0b2. Yesterday I got an email at 11:42 am. That time shown was consistent across TB desktop, android, and other email systems (e.g. ipad mail). Then at 3:00 pm I noticed the same email had the arrival time changed to 3:35 pm (so in the future?). The new time shows both on TB desktop and Android, but other email systems (ipad mail, Gmail) still show the original time of 11:42 am.

I opened the email in a text editor. Near the top it says:

Delivered-To: replacename@gmail.com Received: by (bunch of letters/numbers) with SMTP id z9csp1572268pxu;

       Fri, 27 Jun 2025 11:42:33 -0700 (PDT)

X-Received: by (bunch of letters/numbers) with SMTP id d85a73u69752e-4a7fcac4408mr84193.1751049752874;

       Fri, 27 Jun 2025 11:42:32 -0700 (PDT)

So that looks correct, as the email first arrived at 11:42 into my inbox.

But further down in the email text file there is:

In-Reply-To: <dc3bf(bunch of letters/numbers)ed74@gmail.com> From: Shiela <office@business.ca> Date: Fri, 27 Jun 2025 11:35:51 -1100 X-Gm-Features: Ac12(bunch of letters/numbers)Pb1yxp7nGDpJl8 Message-ID: <CAP6Ti(bunch of letters/numbers)soGigQ@mail.gmail.com> Subject: Re: Estimate 2806 "2462 Deer Ave"

The date line then says -1100 with a time of 11:35 and the inbox email. So one part says -0700 and another says -1100 for time zone. TB desktop and android reads this second time zone and switched the email in my inbox to read arrival at 3:35 pm whereas other email programs read the first time zone of -7000.

Any ideas of what happened or why TB reads the second time zone where other clients read (correctly) the first?

I recently became the webmaster for our local American Legion post and built a website through Hostinger. That service also offered a cost-effective email solution for us and I've created a number of email accounts for our office positions and some individuals by name. At the level of service we have with Hostinger, our website/email account domain is not the same as the email servers.

That's ordinarily not a problem, since most modern email applications can either pull domain email hostnames from registration records or gives the user a manual process to enter the email hostnames directly (in our case an IMAP and SMTP hostname belonging to Hostinger).

I had no problem using the manual configuration that Thunderbird supports to set up my first American Legion email address. Email was received immediately and testing outgoing email worked fine. Adding a second American Legion email address seemed to go well - email messages came in immediately - but the outbound testing failed with error messages that the sending client was not recognized.

That sounded like Thunderbird was not trying to authenticate with a password on the SMTP outbound even though I had indicated in the manual setup that a password was required (same as I had in the first American Legion account setup).

I checked the Thunderbird settings to see what saved passwords were recorded in the Password Manager and sure enough their were three IMAP host passwords but only two SMTP host passwords (the missing SMTP host password was for the second American Legion account).

I completely deleted the second American Legion account and tried again - just in case I had accidentally indicated no password needed for SMTP the first time - and got the same result (IMAP host password created, but not SMTP). I then tried deleting both American Legion accounts and then adding them back with the second account being added first this time. At least the problem was consistent - the first account added had both an IMAP host password record and a SMTP host password created; the second account created had only its IMAP host password saved.

I couldn't find a menu item for adding a host password in the Save Passwords settings menu; manually removing the IMAP password to force the system to ask for the password again only ended up with the IMAP host password being added back into the TBird Password Manager.

The version Linux Mint reports for Thunderbird is 1:128.11.1esr+linuxmint1+xia. As far as I can tell the issue only comes up when Thunderbird cannot auto-detect the email servers on its own and it only has a problem when more than one email account has to be added for a manually configured email domain.

Is there a TBird menu item I'm missing that would let me add the SMTP host password for the second account manually? Failing that, is this a known issue that has already been fixed by Thunderbird and should be forthcoming after that version is released as an update by the Linux Mint team?

This morning I received no emails from Earthlink. I haven't changed any settings, and my two laptops were receiving emails yesterday.

I thought it might be related to a MS update, but that was a couple of days earlier. One laptop uses Thunderbird and the other runs MS Mail. So it doesn't appear to be related to the email client. (?)

I went to the Earthlink webmail and the messages were there. Server name is pop.earthlink.net.

I went to the webmail and selected all the emails for this date and marked them as unread, but no joy. :(

I can read my Earthlink emails from the webmail, but sure would like to find them in my inbox!

Thanks for any help.
