My mom has been using thunderbird since 2015 like me on a debian based linux distro. I upgraded her PC lately. I double backed her .thunderbird account by copying her .thunderbird folder and using export to an external drive. It took an unusually long time to do this. Her email account is setup to use smtp but she has >1GByte size mapi folder. After getting the new PC up and running, only the smtp email is showing up. How can I access the email in her mapi folder?

Hello, I am trying to send and email with script and 2 photos but every time I try to send it I get a very quick flash of a small box with writing in it but it disappears right away, and my email is not sent. Why is this happening and how can I correct it so my email will actually be sent?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Can anyone please explain why, when I type an email and use Bold, Underline, paragraphs etc the program actually changes some text to symbols like asterisks & underscore symbol instead of underline etc that I did not enter and in general makes the body of the email look terrible when it is sent and printed out. I have tried typing the message in Word first and then copying to the email but it still seems to change it when the email is sent. Does anyone know why and can this be fixed? The last couple of emails I have had to prepare in Word, save as pdf documents and then send as attachments and this is a long and tedious process just to send an email message even if it is a long message. Thank you.

I’m running Thunderbird 147.0.1 (64-bit) on both my desktop and laptop, both using Windows 11 Version 25H2 (Build 26200.7705). I’m trying to highlight sent (outgoing) messages where the correspondent and recipient are different (i.e., not sending to myself). When this condition is met, I want the subject line to appear green. My logic is: • Match outgoing mail where the correspondent column contains one of my addresses • Exclude rows where the recipient column also contains one of my addresses • Apply formatting only to the subject column tr:has(

   td.correspondentcol-column[title*="@pm.me"],
   td.correspondentcol-column[title*="@protonmail.com"],
   td.correspondentcol-column[title*="@passinbox.com"]

):not(

   :has(td.recipientcol-column[title*="@pm.me"]),
   :has(td.recipientcol-column[title*="@protonmail.com"]),
   :has(td.recipientcol-column[title*="@passinbox.com"])

) td.subjectcol-column {

 color: var(--tb-green) !important;
 font-weight: 600 !important;
 background-color: #e8f5e9 !important;

} Same Thunderbird version, same Windows build, same CSS file, same mail account structure. Is there something on the desktop system that could prevent this from working? For example: • about:config setting related to CSS • Layout or column differences affecting selectors • Rendering engine differences between installations • UI density / table layout mode differences My expectation is that this logic should behave identically on both systems, so I suspect a configuration or UI state difference. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Even though Thunderbird already lets me access 4 other emails I own at snet.net. I am able to get on that snet.net account at yahoo with the same credentials I give to Thunderbird.

My name is graeme , my wife Olivia.

I have many many messages from various people; if I reply to a a mail from "fred", Thunderbird creates a mail:

to: fred@xxxx from: graeme@xxxx

I have several messages from my wife , that behave in this same fashion (ie , as you would expect) but ONE message, when I reply the message displayed in Thunderbird (ie NOT YET SENT, so no SMTP etc yet involved) says:

(it does NOT have a REPLY-TO header BTW)

to: graeme@... from olivia@.....

...I've search back though my mailbox and all the mails from my wife work as you would expect, bar this one ...AND ONE OTHER that I found:

This says:

from olivia@.xxxx to: company@xxxx, olivia@xxxx. graeme@xxxxx

When I hit reply , it generates a message:

from olivia@xxxx to: company@xxxx, olivia@xxxx. graeme@xxxxx

So the from and to in the reply are exactly the same as the from/to in the initial message (they are not swapped)

So, to be clear 99% of messages are fine, it's just one or two cases where I get this odd behavior.

Since I upgraded to version 140.7.1esr (64-bit) Eclipse, I have been getting intermittent problems with sending emails. My settings for Thunderbird are to not remember passwords between sessions. When I send an email the first time in a session the supply of the password to the prompt is fine and the email is sent. But when I then send another email I get the invalid password prompt. If I use Enter New Password and put in the correct password the sending still fails. Sometimes if I delay and resend the message which has been saved, the process does work.

Hi,

I had to re-install Thunderbird on my computer. I had it all working until Jan. 27th when all of the sudden most of my email accounts started giving a timeout error message. I have tried numerous setting changes and combinations, rechecked by passwords and even tried uninstalling and reinstalling again. Nothing is working. The accounts affected are gmail, yahoo, and aol accounts. I shut off my anti-virus software, and okayed thunderbird for accessing these accounts. Not sure what else to try, so thinking maybe it was a change with the mail servers and how they let thunderbird access them. Are they now denying the use of third party servers.

Hello! The other day everything worked as usual, and I shut down the computer for the night. The next morning, Thunderbird immediately crashed/shut down when starting each of the 2 profiles I always use. The 3rd profile, which is the default-release running a different email, still seems to work normally. Thunderbird 115.10.1

I have tried Windows (10) safe mode, as well as thunderbird Troubleshoot mode and working offline, but the issue continued to occur.

I'm at a loss now as to what could cause 2 profiles to suddenly cause it to crash. By the way, one profile is for a gmail account and the other one is for an Outlook account, so they don't seem to be related.

In case it helps, there were 2 Microsoft Visual C++ programs installed or updated, and updates to Microsoft 365 and Google Drive just before the problem started. These were all auto updates in the background.

Any help from the Community would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

For as far back as I can remember I've been using Mozilla Thunderbird on a old computer running Windows 7. I've a Win10 machine here so a few months ago, I downloaded the latest Thunderbird and I was suprised to see it looked very different. After a bit of experimenting I managed to get it looking familiar so I uninstalled it with the intention of trying it again early in 2026 when I've a bit more free time, So this morning I installed the latest version but it looks even more different now :-(

I'm not sure how to attach images here but if it works, the original one looked like Capture01 and this morning's one is like Capture02. I still had my installer from a few months ago so I installed that one and it looks the same as today's one. Notice that there's no menu bar any more and AFAICT I can only view email headers and not their contents. Also, the 3 boxes at the top RHS (for sizing the window / minimizing it etc) don't work at all.

Is it me doing something wrong - or are there maybe some settings somewhere that I need to experiment with?

Some Junk Mail (so far, only from my Outlook mail account) is appearing in my Inbox. This mail has a yellow banner at the top stating "Thunderbird thinks this message is Junk mail". Also on this banner is a button marked "Not Junk", that allows me to tell Thunderbird that it is not Junk. At the very top of the message (as with all messages) is a button marked "Junk", which in this case is "greyed out" and so won't work, although this button is not greyed out for messages that are not thought to be Junk!. This seems counter intuitive to me. Thunderbird is allowing some messages into the Inbox which it thinks are Junk, but disables the button that allows me to confirm it! I know that I can still mark the message as Junk by using the individual menu for the message (3 vertical dots), but why disallow the obvious "quick action" button?

Recently I have noticed some changes in the way my Thunderbird downloads POP3 messages. Previously, it would be common to ask for new messages once a day and receive upwards of one hundred of them. But in the last month, this number has been limited to about 35 at a time. If I ask immediately again, I get about 35 more, and this pattern continues as long as there are messages in queue waiting to be downloaded. I am not sure if this is due to changes in gmail, where most of my received messages originate, or to changes in Thunderbird itself, or to some sort of third-party hack. Now that I have trained myself to keep on asking until there are no more messages coming down, this change does not cause me much difficulty, although initially it sometimes caused me to overlook messages because I failed to keep asking as long as I should have. Apart from that, it does not seem to be harmful as far as I can tell. I'd just like to know if other people have noticed anything similar, and if anyone knows what is causing it, and whether it has some hidden advantages over the way things used to work.
