I have Firefox 22.0 installed, I recently did a reset and now have lost the ability I had to click on the homepage button and automatically launch the Homepage in a new tab? I like this option since when I click on my homepage it doesn't override my current page. I know you can configure new tabs to open the homepage automatically ; and that you can use the Ctr+Homepage Button to open the home page in a new tab. However I would like to know what setting I can add/change to restore this missing feature.

Thanks

Open a new tab. In the address bar type; About:Config and press enter. If you get a page that warns you about continuing, press the I will be careful button. In the search bar, type; Newtab. Look for; Browser.newtab.url. Right click and select Modify. Type; About:home (or what ever page you want) and press enter. That should do it. .

Thanks , I tried this and this allows a new tab to open automatically with the home page. However what I am looking for is when I click the homepage button that it automatically launches in a separate tab not the current tab I am viewing.

You will have to middle-click the toolbar Home button to open the home page in a new tab.
Otherwise you would need an extension to achieve this.
Firefox will only open a new tab if a pinned tab is currently selected.

Thanks, I tried this and it produced the same results as before of opening a new tab as homepage. However, it does not change the homepage button function, I need to open a new tab when clicking on the homepage button.

Thanks

Hello, you can add a | before you homepage, go from Firefox button > options > options > general > startup > home page like

but your latest open tab, when you hit the homepage button, became blank and you have a new tab open with your homepage (in case the http://www.google.com/ ), 2 tabs, one blank, one with your homepage !!
