Some financial sites and credit card sites require 128 bit technology on the browser. Does Firefox use this or will I have to resort to using I.E?

Firefox supports up to 256 bit encryption.

Thanks! It is difficult to know, because Firefox isn't listed as a browser that does on some financial sites. Just IE and Netscape are listed.
