Thunderbird freezes a few minutes after starting to write an email SOLVED caused by BitDefender
I'm using Win 11 and ver 140.3.1esr (64 bit)
Thunderbird works perfectly except for just one thing. Every time I write any email it freezes after about 2 minutes. If it's a short email, it gets sent. If it's longer, before I can get to the end, the program freezes, and I have to use Task Manager to stop it. No problem receiving and reading emails. This started about a month ago.
I use Bitdefender, but it still happens with that off. Windows is up to date. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks.

Hi Ed. I tried your solution, and based on a couple of attempts at writing an email without the freeze, I think you've solved it. Wow, thanks. How did you know to suggest that?
It's a known bug.

How did you turn it off? The only reliable method is to start Windows 10 in safe mode with networking enabled. Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in troubleshooting mode. Have you tried this?
Thanks christ1, will try that and report what happens.
Try this:
- go to TB menu > Settings > General
- scroll all the way down and click the 'Config editor' button on the right
- click 'Accept the risk and continue' if that appears
- search for accessibility.force_disabled > change the value to 1 > click the check mark
- restart TB

My problem is solved. However, I noticed that the title I gave to the problem has been edited. It now says that BitDefender caused the problem. Although I mentioned BitDefender, I am not aware that BitDefender had anything to do with it.
