We've successfully set up a Hotmail account as an IMAP account; all the emails/folders seem to appear properly, though deletions made on Outlook.com don't seem to show up.

But for now, we have this problem: none of the contacts from the Hotmail account appear in the Thunderbird address book.

How can we (1) get those contacts and (2) keep them up to date, preferably automatically.

Thank you.

Contact syncing for Hotmail/outlook.com requires an add-on such as TbSync/Provider for Exchange ActiceSync. Compatibility depends on your TB version. The CardBook add-on works too, and it probably works with all versions of TB.

Thank you, sfhowes.

TbSync appears to be no longer supported by its developer.

CardBook, OTOH, seems to be maintained currently. However, we are trying to find instructions on how to use it.

If we cannot import and sync Hotmail / Outlook.com contacts, then Tbird will be of little use to us. So we are investigating how to do this (if it can be done). We are not, however, interested in becoming programmers, and it appears that running vba code may be required to make CardBook work.

Not giving up, just making a point.

Again, thank you!

TbSync supports TB 128 and 140. With CardBook, add a new address book, Remote, then choose the Type (Hotmail, Google etc.).
