Search with Quick Filter not working for one specific message
I'm trying to understand why the Quick Search (which I use all the time and is generally *amazing*) is not working for one specific email. The sender is "Marlene Hulda". I have attached the following screenshots:
1. A screenshot of my Inbox showing the email, along with a few others 2. A search using the word "Marlene". That search results in "no message found". 3. A search using the word "Hulda". That search results in "no message found". 4. A search using the word "welcome". In this case, it does find the email.
Any suggestions on why it cannot find the email in step 2 or step 3?
Thanks for your help.

If you repair the inbox, does the search find those terms?
Right click on the inbox, select "Properties", then "Repair folder".
I tried that but it does not appear to fix the problem. See screenshots attached.
1. I clicked on "repair folder" and then "okay". 2. On bottom left, it seems to be re-downloading the emails in the inbox.
However, when I run the searches again, I get the same result for "Marlene" and "Hulda" - "no message found". Searching on "Welcome", it does find it.
Thanks for your help.
I am sorry that I not have other ideas. Maybe other people do.

Will do a bit more digging.
What happens if you select just the Sender button in the Quick Filter? Or, do a Classic Search (Ctrl+Shift+F) with From + contains + marlene.
Screenshots attached show the following:
1. Inbox emails before search is done 2. Entering "marlene" in Quick Filter and just selecting the Sender button results in "no message found" 3. (Ctrl+Shift+F) with From + contains + marlene does not find the message either.
I am really stumped!
Thanks for your help.
PS Also trying searching on "Marlene" instead of "marlene" but no joy. :-(
Check inbox folder properties. Right click - Properties. Is the inbox included in the global search?
You could rebuild the global database: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/rebuilding-global-database
I dont know if it will help.
As always, the first diagnostic step with an apparently intractable problem is to test in safe/troubleshoot mode (under Help) in case there's an add-on issue, as there are several search-related add-ons.

Thanks for the reminder.
Rick, It is included in the Global Search. I will try in Safe mode.
Thanks for your help.
I did run it in safe mode. See screenshot attached. After selecting only "Disable all add-ons" and not "Reset toolbars and controls" (is that corrrect?), I chose "Continue in Troubleshoot Mode". The results were the same, the Quick Filter not finding "marlene" or "hulda" in the inbox. I also tried a second time choosing "Make Changes and Restart" (it's unclear to me which I should be choosing) and again the Quick Filter did not find "marlene" or "hulda" in the inbox.
Interestingly, the Quick Filter does work on all the other emails in my inbox. I'm beginning to suspect this may have something to do with that particular email.
More thoughts, suggestions?
Thanks for your thoughts.
When you launch in safe mode, it's sufficient to click 'Continue...', as add-ons are automatically disabled in safe mode, and a default layout is applied. You only check one or both of the options in order to apply them to normal mode ('make changes...').
I would look at the source (Ctrl+U) and see if there are any non-standard characters in the From header, e.g. umlauts or accents (Marlène), that don't show in the message list, but, if present, might affect the quick filter.
I ran it through in Safe Mode again with the suggestions you made but it did not change the results. I also checked the source code and do not see any special characters in "Marlene" or "Hulda". Since the Quick Filter seems to be working 99.9% of the time (I believe), I'm going to let this exercise go. But, appreciate your help in trying to figure it out.
