copy format to another account
I have two Microsoft accounts on the same computer: one corrupt and one good. Thunderbird format/layout that I prefer is in the corrupt account. I downloaded Thunderbird to the good account but the format/layout is totally different. Consequently I would like to copy my preferred format/layout from the corrupt account to the good one. How do I go about it?

I believe you need to do the opposite. Use the preferred profile and reconstruct the Microsoft account there.
Thank you David. I cannot do this as the corrupt Microsoft account with the preferred Thunderbird layout is beyond repair to the extend that Microsoft remote assistance created a new good account in which I downloaded Thunderbird with only the basic layout. Any help as to how and what to copy from the still working Thunderbird layout in the corrupt account can be copied to their very basic email in the "good" Microsoft account would be appreciated.
First, any account, regardless of origin or corruptness, can be deleted and added back. But I won't go there, since you prefer not. So, you need to manually set up the preferred profile by looking at the old profile. That is, there is no straightforward way to do that. Much of that can be done from View>layout menu and adjusting font size as needed.
re :Thunderbird format/layout that I prefer is in the corrupt account. I downloaded Thunderbird to the good account but the format/layout is totally different.
I presume you have downloaded Thunderbird from the official forum here:
So please let us know if you have used something else. If you got Thunderbird from the 'windows App Store then it has tends to create profiles in a completely different location. It makes life more awkward as all the various help on Profiles assumes you have it in the default location where a downloaded Thunderbird would create it.
re :format/layout is totally different
We cannot see what you see, so can you upload some images so we know what you mean by format/layout is totally different. We need to be able to compare, so we know what you mean.
eg: Are you talking about the 'Folder Pane' or the Message List ? If you mean the 'Message List then maybe you are viewing 'Cards View' and previously you used 'Table view'. see image below on how to alter this.
For both corrupt and good accounts: What does it say in this location:
- Account Settings > Server Settings
- On the right at the top - 'Server Type:' does it says 'Pop Mail Server' or 'Imap Mail Server'
I downloaded Thunderbird from the official Thunderbird site not from the official foru. Yes your example is more or less my preferred layout rather than the basic. It only shows one email account but my other three accounts are missing.
Apologies for the first sentence. To clarify: from the official Thunderbird site/forum
I am puzzled; there are four accounts displayed in your screenshot.
Apologies. It is remiss of me not to explain: the screenshot with the 4 accounts is my preferred layout in the corrupt Microsoft account. The other screenshot is the basic layout in my "good" Microsoft account which I would like to match my first, preferred account. I have added the missing three account to the "basic" but the layout is not the same, in that, they appear further down after the primary account
It may prove helpful to share what you're looking at. Seeing screenshot of what you call the corrupt account and one of what you call the good account may be a start. Also, you keep referencing the Microsoft account as singular, but it appears it to be multiple accounts. That is, the problem may be more in semantics than technical errors.
Thank you for your continuous support. To further explain, I initially "edited" the registry of my original Microsoft account and this made a mess with the result that it corrupted the account so that I could not use it fully. It affected various parts of it to the extent that I could not type anything in the "search" space of the task bar. I contacted Microsoft remote assistance who tried to redownload in situ Microsoft but they failed. So they created a new account with most files BUT for Thunderbird. Both accounts are on the computer but requiring separate sign-in (Control-Alt-Delete and then "switch user") with different passwords. I downloaded Thunderbird afresh to the new account but the layout is the basic as it shows on one of the images and I am trying to change it to be like the 4 accounts image.
I believe that the best thing is simply to learn more about layouts.
Napro19, I see no screenshots from you, so I do not know what you are dealing with. But this may be a good place to start:

My suggestion: start over. Fresh. I cannot figure on where you are. Terms are too vague. My suggested steps: - uninstall thunderbird and the profile. - download from thunderbird.net and install - using the account info you have, install one account at a time. If you need assistance, post the info for each account. most MS accounts use these settings per account: - incoming: outlook.office365.com, port 993, SSLTLS, Oauth2 - outgoing: smtp.office365.com, 587, STARTTLS, Oauth2
This will be a cleaner setup and attempting to debug what you have. and, people here can give ready assistance.
Thank you. Will do. Regards
