subfolders are not fetched
To my new computer Thunderbird has just fetched the INBOX-mails from the IMAP-server, not my many subfolders, not the SENT-folder, not the SPAM-folder. This has previously worked when I changed to a new computer. How do I get Thunderbird to transfer these mails.
Chosen solution
As the question was asked by Bjorn, then my comments are directed to that person.
The Image you posted looks like it is using a particular view called 'Unified view'. But you said "Samlede mapper" (=all folders) In which case it should have the mail account name listed first and all the various folders below. BUT - Your image does not show that at all. Also if I do a google translate of 'Unified Folders' - it says danish is 'Samlede mapper'
So you are using Unified view and the image is displaying a Unified structure. 'Indbakke' means 'Inbox' It contains a mail account Inbox which looks like a mail account name, but it isn't - it's that accounts Inbox - look at the icon - it's an Inbox icon so you cannot use it to do any subscribing. So that means 'Indbakke' is a 'Unified Inbox' That means the Unified Inbox can only display the various Inboxes for all accounts. The only additional thing it can display is an accounts 'Inbox' subfolders.
The 'Kladder' folder means 'Drafts' in English. It is also a Unified 'Drafts' folder Currently it does not show a > chevron to the left so that means no accounts have been selected to display the accounts Drafts folder.
Same applies to 'Skabeloner' which means 'Templates' - that is a Unified Templates folder and nothing has been selected to display.
The mail account name folder itself would be at the bottom below all the Unified Folders.
If you only have one mail account then stop using that view. It is not designed to be used for a single account. I think it's confusing the issue at this moment. So please remove it. View > Folders > All - uncheck any others selected, just select 'All'
You mention IMAP, but is it really set up as IMAP? It seems very odd to only have an Inbox - I would have expected that to occur if you had a Pop account.
Let us start at the beginning. You mention moving profiles between computers in the past, so it's likely you know to Copy the 'Thunderbird' folder from 'C://Users/user account/Appdata/'Roaming' folder Then on new computer, access same location and past the copied 'Thunderbird' folder into the 'Roaming' folder.
So I'm presuming you did the above.
Then maybe you installed Thundrbird and it should have picked up the profile - but it did not - something went wrong. Which then makes me wonder where did you get the Thunderbird download/install program.
You mention a new computer and Windows 11 OS Where did you get the Thunderbird download installation ? Did you get it from the Windows App Store ? If yes, then it would explain why you are not seeing all the old data. Windows App Store create a brand new location for profiles - it's a real pain and it's not easy to locate - it also has a much longer directory to access it.
I would suggest you uninstall Thunderbird and get a fresh download from the official website at this link:
Then access the new computer Firewall (either the default that comes with Windows 11 or it's controlled by an Anti-Virus if you installed one) Thunderbird program - that's the thunderbird.exe - must be set up as an allowed program to ensure nothing gets blocked.
Start Thunderbird Please make sure you have the following setting: View > Folders > All - uncheck any others selected, just select 'All' - it's the option at the top of the list. 'Alle mapper' = All folders 'Samlede mapper' = Unified folders

Does that solve the problem?
No, not at all. I have 100's of folders and from time to time I will add or delete folders, sometimes from a different e-mail client, and I want to see all of them. Unchecking the 'Display only subscribed folders' box is supposed to make it unnecessary to manually 'subscribe' to each folder. I believe that's how it turned out for Bjørn.

I don't think that's true. When you add a new folder in TB and presumably when on your email provider's web interface, you're automatically subscribed to it. Do a test doing both of those. It could be that adding folders in another email client won't make it subscribed in TB. In the end, I don't see any more for you to do other than manually subscribing to all the folders that appear in the Subscribe dialog.
Robert, did you read my answer to Toad-Hall? My problem was solved when I COMPLETELY uninstalled Thunderbird - Uninstalled the app Thunderbird - deleted the Thunderbird folder in Programs (X86) - deleted the Thunderbird folder in Users/../AppData/Roaming otherwise the old settings are preserved
Then I downloadeded a fresh copy of Thunderbird from https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/ (Thank you Toad-Hall) after setting up connections to IMAP and smtp everything worked, no need to fiddle around with settings what to subscribe, display folders not subscribed ..., Thunderbird immediately showed all subfolders and started downloading my mails
Hi, Bjørn. Yes, I read your message and did the same things. I've now done them all again, to be sure: - uninstalled Thunderbird (it was in 'Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\' and that folder was deleted by the uninstall process) - deleted the Thunderbird folder in AppData\Roaming\ - again downloaded from https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/ (previously I downloaded the English (Canadian) version, this time I downloaded the English (US) version - installed, with the automatically detected IMAP and smtp settings
Again, only the Inbox and Trash folders appeared. It downloaded the messages in my Inbox. (It took about 15 minutes to download the 14023 messages. Maybe it's time to clean it out!) When I clicked on the Trash folder, it downloaded the 23 messages in it; that folder had originally been created by Thunderbird itself.
Ed, as a test I created a new folder in Thunderbird and it appeared in the Outlook Web app as soon as I reloaded the Outlook Web page. I then created a new folder in Outlook, and it immediately appeared (unchecked) in the Subscribe dialogue in Thunderbird but not in the main list of mail folders. After I checked its box in the Subscribe dialogue, the folder didn't immediately appear in the main list of folders but it did appear after I exited from Thunderbird and restarted it.
It occurred to me that my problem might be because my University uses MS Exchange for e-mail, and the released version of Thunderbird doesn't yet support Exchange, although it's under development. Thunderbird falls back to IMAP, and maybe that doesn't work quite right with an Exchange server.
I've downloaded the current daily version of Thunderbird and it does display a list of all my folders, although there are other problems.
It was pointed out to me that there is a recent bug report about this problem: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1954683
The problem is still present in the daily version of Thunderbird.
