Hey Gang -- Has anyone else experienced this?

Whenever I'm on NPR's website listening to a radio program, I can't access any other websites on separate tabs or windows. (they simply won't 'load' or even acknowledge any commands)

I find this to be very strange.

If anyone can help with this minor quandary I would be grateful.

Sincerely,

--Art

PS - I am using a PC desktop computer, running Windows 10 and using the latest Firefox version 124.0.2

Can we get a link or is happening on all parts of the site? Did you try with Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode? What security software are you running?

Hello jonzn --

Again - this occurs whenever I am "listening" to any of the programs offered on this website.

You can pick ANY program (daily news, podcasts & shows, music) and once you've begun to "play" that program (or listen to it) the ability to use other tabs/windows disappears.

Just for sh*ts & giggles - here's a link to the show I listened to this morning ("Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me):

 https://www.npr.org/podcasts/344098539/wait-wait-don-t-tell-me

Last week when I experienced this problem I was listening to "Sci-Fri" (science friday) and same occurred.

Hope this is helpful.

Did you try Troubleshoot Mode? If it works there, try disabling hardware acceleration and disabling your extensions.

Try disabling audio enhancements in Windows 10 Control Panel > Audio device > Properties > Enhancements > Tick "Disable all enhancements".

Hello zeroknight -

Thank you - sincerely - for your kind suggestions.

Unfortunately for me, this is not a solution. And still - No One has answered my question, "Has Anyone Else Experienced This..?"

Again - Thanks, but.. It is obvious from your proposed solution that YOU have not tried this yourself.

Also - I am a simple "end-user" of your product.

I am trying to both A: alert those within the community of folks who actually program the software of a potential issue which may be present, and B: get on with using Firefox with some relative ease.

I am NOT looking for a solution which would require me to make several adjustments to my Firefox Browser every time I wish to listen to a simple radio program on NPR. So - Apologies, but.. - I can't accept what you've suggested to me as any sort of "solution" to the issue.

I would very much like to hear from someone who HAS gone to the trouble of DUPLICATING what I have reported here to Mozilla, and to hear (at least) a CONFIRMATION of what I have experienced, and at best some sort of communication that this issue is being "looked-into".

Anyone ...?

To Reiterate - I am EXTREMELY thankful of my Firefox browser, and what it accomplishes to keep us mere mortals relatively safe & anonymous out in the 'wilds' of the Internet. I am simply trying to do my part in following through with what you all have requested of us.

To let you know what we are experiencing while using this product.

Sincerely,

--Art

NPR podcasts play for me on Windows 10 without any issues. If you want to skip the troubleshooting steps, you can jump straight to refreshing your profile which will fix many common issues.

Installing an ad blocker like uBlock Origin may also help.

zeroknight -

Just to be clear -- NPR podcasts (and shows) play for me on Windows 10 without any issues, too..!

Once you have a program playing on NPR in Firefox, have you tried simultaneously opening and operating other tabs or websites?? (eg: gmail, craigslist, weather, etc.)

Because THAT was the reason I originally brought up this subject.

I await your answer.

PS - I have an adequate ad-blocker, thank you.

There are no issues with browsing other sites while simultaneously playing NPR podcasts.
