Save IMAP emails on PC but delete them on IPAD

I access emails using the IMAP server on both a Windows PC and on an IPAD. The IPAD is used mainly for travel and has limited storage. Is there any way to delete older emails from the IPAD but not delete them from the IMAP server or from the PC?

IMAP keeps all messages on the server. If you delete from one device, the message no longer exists, and therefore is not viewable on other devices.
