Hi

Tabs in Firefox for Android work a little differently as Firefox Focus is designed to be a lighter weight browser. You can send links to a new tab, but the existing tab cannot be blank.

You may wish to try the main Firefox for Android browser than has a fuller tab experience and also has a private browsing mode.
