I occasionally receive emails that do not appear in the inbox listing but the inbox has unread emails highlighted as a number.

If I set VIEW/THREADS/UNREAD

Then I can see the listed emails in the inbox.

If I set VIEW/THREADS/ALL

The emails disappear. This is weird. They are mostly "allegedly" from Martin Lewis and I suspect they are spam. I always just delete them! HELP!

right click the folder, select properties and then the repair button.
