I followed the help article for moving TB data to a new computer, copying and pasting via a thumb drive. But nothing seems to happen - I'm never prompted to replace the current data. The article appears to be older than the version of TB I'm using - is this the problem? Can anyone please help?

The article is, by me at least, being ignored until the import profile feature is introduced in the next version. It was supposed to be in this one, and was pulled in the last week before V91 came out.

The simplest way is you install your new Thunderbird and cancel out of the create an account part of things when it starts.

  1. Go to the help menu select troubleshooting information and then the Profile button in the troubleshooting information. This will open a windows file manager/Explorer
  2. Close Thunderbird
  3. Now open another file manager window for your USB device with the profile data. Open the [profile folder on that device until you are at the level where you can see the various abook files listed.
  1. select Ctrl+A on the file manager window (all contents in the list will be highlighted) followed by Ctrl+C (copy command)
  2. Now navigate to the window that opened when you clicked on the profile button (your new profile) and press Ctrl+V (paste). A copy process with lost of replace items should occur.
  3. Replace everything when prompted.
