If an email acct is in Thunderbird in two different locations, and I delete the account in my laptop, will it affect the account in the other person's laptop?

I put the email account of another person in My Thunderbird, to help tell that person how to set his up (I'm in USA, he's in Ireland).. Now I want to delete his account in my Thunderbird, but don't want to do anything to affect his account.

Just delete the account and you'll be fine. Once you have done this, which removes the account's settings, your Thunderbird is disconnected from the server and so can't make any more changes to the working account.

When you remove an account, you wil be offered an option to also remove the stored data. If you don't select this option, it will keep the stored messages, but hide them.

In case you haven't already found it, you remove an account like this:

  • Open Account Settings
  • Select the account you don't want
  • Click on Account Actions
  • Click on Remove Account
