tool bar on thunderbird email does not work after upgrade to windows 10

If I try to minimize or make full screen does not work and cant "x" out in thunderbird window or expand the window or anything. It does display my email bur in a smaller screen than what I want . I want it to be fullscreen. Hitting the fullscreen button in settings does not make a difference.
