Hi,
If you want to remove an individual shortcut, you can hover it, click three dots and then click Dismiss. To disable shortcuts completely, click the pencil icon in the bottom right corner of the New Tab page and switch the toggle next to Shortcuts.
Tried the "dismiss" suggestion and the shortcut is still there. I cannot even edit it!

What happens when you click the Edit option?
