I have a couple of sites that the logins don't work when I use Firefox but work perfectly if I use another browser such as Chrome or IE. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox including reinstalling back levels but nothing works. Any suggestions?

In what way are those sites not working?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Also check the cookies exceptions to make sure that you aren't blocking cookies.

If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.

Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

My problem is that the login page "works" but now presents itself in what looks like "safe mode". I was taking an online test when my PC Registry ran a scan. After that the login site changed and remains in this awkward setting. I checked with Chrome and the page presents perfectly. I also had Norton uninstall and reinstall Mozilla hoping that would resolve issues I am having with Mozilla (not just this one), but they are all still present in Mozilla while being absent from Chrome and IE. After Norton went through everything they said it is something in the Mozilla settings and to contact you.

BTW: My other issues are fraying text, and no Yahoo news videos will play. Getting very frustrated.
