Spam when on only works sporadically, even when I mark e-mails as spam. How do I fix?

Even though spam protection is "ON" it allows way too many spam mails through, even after being marked as spam. This happens continuously every day. Is this a fault with Firefox or my e-mail provider, Verizon Yahoo? Can I fix, and if so, how?

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser, you should contact your email provider.
