why do 2 windows open when opening a link in email

If firefox is closed and i click on a link in an email, 2 windows open. one blank and the other with my linked page. I can't find anything in the settings to change this. Before it did a similar thing but it was opening 2 tabs in a single window. One blank and one with my requested link. I recall chaning something that got rid of the 2 tabs opening but don't recall what and can't find anything. Apparently that change changed it from opening a 2nd tab blank, to opening a 2nd window blank.

mac os 26.5.2 FF 154.0 is my default browser

I notice below that Firefox has incorrectly labeled my OS.

This is usually from changes of Apple system libraries. I think there were a handful of similar effects around upgrading to Tahoe SDKs few months back. The bug to track several of these is bugzilla.mozilla.org/2055233 and according to the timeline this should be fixed in v155 next week.

If you are referring to the macOS 10.15 in Firefox UA. The minimum macOS to run Firefox 116.0 and later is macOS 10.15 or later. It does not matter what macOS you have as long as it is 10.15 or later and the UA will always have macOS 10.15 to help minimize fingerprinting.

Some think this is also a similar case with Firefox on Windows 10 and 11 and Firefox having sites think the user is on Windows 10 and not 11. This is actually due to Windows 11 basically being based on NT 10.0 like Windows 10 as there is no NT 11.0.
