The back arrow used to give me the links to the 10 most recent web pages I visited. Now it doesn't.

Now it just gives me the web pages associated with the page that was used to open the tab. How can I get back the handy short general history? It saves me time compared to clicking on History and then finding the page I'm looking for.

Maybe I'm just opening too many tabs! I just tried keeping one tab open and going to various websites and, sure enough, the right click on the back arrow gave me all the pages I had opened. So I think I've resolved the alleged problem.

Thanks for your quick responses--it certainly caused me to think more clearly about this.

Hi, the Back Arrow is doing what all back arrows do, go back one when pressed once. You must have been using something to change the default or something changed the default and you did not know.

Anyways the Back Arrow is doing and working as it it should be.

If you Hold the Mouse Down on the Back Arrow it will show the sites you are looking for.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Hmm, the built-in Back button right-click context menu has always been "per tab," so my guess is that either:

  • New tabs are opening when they didn't used to, and you have to switch to the earlier tab to see the rest of the history, or
  • You were using an add-on that modified what the Back button drop-list showed and that add-on is no longer working

Do either of those seem like a possibility?

I wasn't specific enough. A single left click of the mouse certainly gives me the previous web page but a right click has always given me a dropdown of the 10 most recent pages regardless of whether they are associated with the tab that was opened--basically, what you get if you open History and look at the 10 most recent pages. That's what I want from the right click, not just the pages associated with the page that opened the tab.

Hi, yes a Right Click does give previous sites, 15 is what I have and it possibly could go longer. Unfortunately it is all history of the Tab and pages opened with the tab.
