inbox messages disappearing - uninstalled & regedit all TB entries

inbox messages disappear - but not every time I start TB .... tried regular uninstall, reboot & reinstall, but it picked up old profile info and showed the same problem. uninstalled, and used regedit to remove nearly all Thunderbird entries (some could not be deleted) - rebooted and reinstalled - now get new error message (see image) "Your thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. it may be missing or inaccessible" - and now i cannot access profile manager OS = Windows 8.1 Lenovo G50
