Firefox not responding on startup even after reinstalling on OSX 10.9.5

When I open Firefox I get a blank window that doesn't fully load. I can't interact with Firefox at all. I deleted Firefox from my application folder and downloaded a new version but it's still hanging at start up.

I did update both Adobe Flash and Security Update 2015-001 for OSX before this issue started happening and that may play a factor.

You can check if you can start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the Options key.

Unfortunately that didn't work. It did get more of the browser to load (in fact, it pulled up my homepage). However, I still can't interact with the application at all and get the spinning color wheel when I try to click anywhere in the window.
