How do I stop plugin status checking? This happens every few seconds making Firefox an annoying nuisance to use.

Every few seconds regardless of what web page I'm trying to view a popup appears saying "Some plugins on this page are out of date." For one thing, it's not true. For another, I don't need hundreds of reminders. Once a week would be plenty. Please don't tell me to upgrade this and that. There's no reason any software should behave so badly even if it's not the latest version.

You are running a very old Firefox 12 version that has disclosed known security vulnerabilities.

Why do you want to stay with such a old version?

If you have service pack 2 or 3 then you should update to the current release.


You can check these pref on the about:config page

  • plugins.hide_infobar_for_outdated_plugin
  • plugins.hide_infobar_for_missing_plugin

That could be add / walware. DO NOT use any links they provide.
