How can I retrieve the 1000s of sent emails from gmail server?

I recently created a new gmail account in an attempt to solve another problem. Now instead of 1000s of email in my sent folder, there are 4. They still exist on the gmail server when I log in via Firefox.

How can I force TB/gmail to download these sent messages to my sent folder on TB?

Also when I send a new email from this account, it does not appear in the sent folder. AND, noticed the sent folder has a new BLUE SQUARE ICON (with white border) - where did that come from?

Something is wrong with the sent folder for this account. The one in my other account has my full email sent history and does get new sent messages.

I have the same problem. It takes a long time but I transfer email by email to my computer. If there is another solution I will be very happy to know it.
