I haven't heard about a problem with IMDb. Could you tr the usual things for website problems to see whether they help?

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

• right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
• Tools menu > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

If you can't view any pages on imdb.com, you can call up the dialog on this site and change the domain in the top box to imdb.com and then remove their cookies.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Could you also try Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled (Flash will still work)

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Is there a message you are getting when trying to access imdb or is it the site just does not load?

You can also do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

The only malware I have is Firefox. Fed up with dealing with invisible postings on various websites.

Hi Snaptrap, by invisible postings do you mean that the comments section is not loading on a lot of sites? That can be caused by an avast! add-on. See: Disqus and other comment boxes no longer appear.
