Using Firefox on laptop and only opens yahoo links in mobile format. Why can't I open the links in normal format and how do I prevent it from switching?

I am unable to open any links from yahoo (example yahoo sports stories) from my firefox browser in normal format. When I click on a yahoo link using firefox it switches to yahoo mobile and if that story isn't available on mobile I can't read it. I love using Firefox but I am getting so irritated by not being able to use yahoo properly that I am going to have to stop using it. I have a feeling it might be an add on because this doesn't happen on my desktop computer at home but I am generally on my laptop and want to be able to use yahoo in conjunction with firefox.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

Thank You Cor-El but unfortunately that didn't work for me. I have firefox set up to not keep history so I was not able to follow the portion of "Forget about this site". I followed the other steps and restarted firefox, I can get to the main yahoo site but then when I click on one of the links or new stories it takes me to the mobile site still this being one example http://m.yahoo.com/w/sports?_intl=US&_lang=en-US

Hello,

That worked, well in a way it did. I didn't have to create a profile, I just followed the instruction instead to "reset firefox" so I didn't have to go through the trouble of creating a new profile. Thank You so much! I can't tell you how crazy that has been driving me.
